Vitamin A binds retinoic acid receptors (RARs) in skin cells to regulate keratinocyte differentiation, stimulate epidermal turnover, upregulate collagen gene expression, and inhibit matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) that degrade collagen and elastin.
