Bifidobacterium lactis
probioticAlso known as: B. lactis, Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis, BB-12, HN019
About
Bifidobacterium lactis supports gut mucosal barrier function and modulates systemic immune responses through dendritic cell education. A small RCT found a probiotic blend containing B. lactis improved skin sensitivity and reduced TEWL in healthy women. Often studied in combination with Lactobacillus strains.
How It Works
Supports gut mucosal barrier function by increasing tight junction protein expression; modulates systemic immune responses through dendritic cell education; may reduce inflammatory biomarkers (CRP, IL-6) associated with skin inflammation through gut-skin axis signaling.
