vitaminAlso known as: Cholecalciferol (D3), Ergocalciferol (D2), Calciferol, Sunshine Vitamin
About
Vitamin D is a secosteroid hormone produced in skin via UVB exposure that regulates keratinocyte differentiation, supports antimicrobial peptide production (cathelicidin), modulates immune responses, and supports wound healing. A systematic review found vitamin D deficiency is significantly associated with increased severity of atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, and vitiligo.
How It Works
Secosteroid hormone produced in skin via UVB exposure; regulates keratinocyte differentiation, supports antimicrobial peptide (cathelicidin) production, modulates immune responses in skin, and supports wound healing through calcium-dependent signaling.
