Fatigue

Persistent tiredness or exhaustion not relieved by rest.

Fatigue is persistent physical and/or mental exhaustion that is not proportional to recent activity and is not fully relieved by rest. It is one of the most common presenting symptoms in primary care. Nutritional causes include iron deficiency (even without anemia), vitamin D insufficiency, vitamin B12 deficiency, magnesium depletion, and subclinical hypothyroidism. Before supplementation, underlying causes should be identified through blood work (CBC, ferritin, TSH, 25-OH-D, B12). CoQ10 supplementation may benefit fatigue associated with statin use or mitochondrial dysfunction.
